To advocate, connect, and deliver exceptional social services to communities ensuring a dignified and meaningful life for all.
Amistad provides wrap around services to over 20,000 constituents in the El Paso region through 40 social service programs. In identifying what we believe to be the largest barrier for many clients, Amistad travels over one million miles a year in an effort to provide accessible non-emergency medical transportation to the elderly and persons with disabilities.
The Amistad Transportation department operates six days a week to transport these vulnerable populations to their medical appointments, medical treatments, food pantries, and places of employment. Amistad drivers embody the agency's values of Respect, Honesty, Integrity, Service, and Excellence by providing quality service during each trip.
All funds raised will go towards the Client Health and Welfare Fund (CHWF). This fund is utilized for a multitude of necessities within the department. With the increase in fuel and maintenance costs, the CHWF will be utilized to ensure our fleet is maintained and operational, meeting all safety requirements to ensure the safety of all passengers.
As a program that operates from 5:00 am - 9:00 pm, it’s imperative Amistad maintains the appropriate amount of staff to perform scheduling, maintenance, and routes. The CHWF will also be utilized to maintain morale within the department.
To ensure that transportation services are accessible to individuals in need, the CHWF will be utilized to cover the costs for passengers who cannot afford the fees for non-emergency medical transportation. Mobility Managers will be utilized to assist potential passengers with the eligibility application and screen them for all Amistad programs to better assist individuals who are living on a fixed income.
Meeting the goal of $12,000 will ensure the eligibility and access to this much-needed service is maintained.
