Our Story
Since 1881, the Connecticut Humane Society (CHS) has been the leading resource in the state for companion animal welfare, enriching the lives of families and communities through adoption services, medical care, education and prevention of cruelty. Three geographically spread Pet Wellness and Adoption Centers serve as hubs, providing resources for pets and the people who love them. Key programs include animal sheltering and placement, low-fee veterinary services for the community, pro-bono training and veterinary services to shelter partners statewide, crisis fostering, a pet food pantry, and humane education.
