Our Story

Heartland Humane Shelter & Care

At Heartland Humane, we are dedicated to making a compassionate and safe community for both pets and the people who love them. Since 1966, our mission has been to care for homeless animals, provide humane education to our youth, and strengthen the bond between humans and animals. We are committed to ensuring that every pet in need finds the help they deserve, regardless of their health, age, breed, or temperament. Each year, we serve between 1,500 and 2,000 animals with a 95% save rate, and our work is powered entirely by the generosity of our community through donations and volunteer support.
