The mission of Candlelighters is to alleviate the isolation, pain, and confusion many families feel when their child is diagnosed with cancer. We are there when the diagnosis has been confirmed and throughout the treatment period, assisting those in need.
Our organization provides free family services, offering free cancer support services to children and youth diagnosed with cancer (ages birth- 25), their families, and the community at large. We provide financial support, psychosocial programs, and therapeutic services so that no one will face the uncertain world of cancer alone.
The funds will support the installation and operating costs of two attendant stations located in growing parts of El Paso. Attendant stations operate like bins; however, they are more effective for a variety of reasons. Attendant stations are small cargo containers or 'pods' that can be locked and contained and are usually staffed by at least one person. These types of collections can help with cutting down illegal dumping and theft. Additionally, attendants can assist with drop-offs, and help sort donations in real-time. Additional uses of funds include marketing and outreach to help inform the public about our donation and recycling program.
